Description: High School 101 is a required class at Lutheran West for freshmen. It is intended to introduce life at Lutheran West to our students. As part of this curriculum, students are taught the expectations for a Lutheran West student. These expectations include how students can incorporate Christian principles, rigorous academics, a nurturing community, and servant leadership into their life as a student at Lutheran West and beyond.

Honors Seminar

Prerequisite: The student is enrolled in The Senney Honors Academy at Lutheran West. 
 
 
 
 
Description: Honors seminar is a required course for students in The Senney Honors Academy that meets once a week during the college preparatory period on Wednesday mornings from 8:10-8:55 AM. This 45-minute period will include a variety of activities including guest speakers, college tours, ACT/SAT test preparation, service and internship arrangements, reading and journal assignments, and topical student presentations.

Grading: The standard grading scale will be used (90, 80, 70, 60). Students will receive 0.25 credits per school year for the Honors Seminar. Grades for the Honors Seminar will only appear on the second semester report card.

Homework: It is expected that the student attends Honors Seminar sessions, reads and completes journal assignments, and prepares for topical student presentations.

Description: This course will allow students to explore both career and college information to help them make more knowledgeable decisions about their future. In addition, students will learn a process to help them make the best college/career choice. Students will also participate in test preparation for standardized college entrance exams.
