DevinHeadrick-DaveRessler Lutheran West's Devin Headrick (incoming junior) took his award-winning Ohio History Day website on the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald to the National History Day contest from June 11-13. Headrick competed first at the regional level in March with Mr. Dave Ressler’s CCP U.S. History class at The Cleveland History Center, where he won the "best of school" award to advance to the State History Day Contest at Ohio Wesleyan University on April 27th. After making a few adjustments to update and enhance his website, Headrick finished in second place at the state contest. The top two award winners from each state earned a trip to compete at the National History Day competition, held at The University of Maryland in College Park, MD. For his project, Headrick earned the National Maritime Historical Award. On day two of the national contest, he presented his website to three judges. Although he did not place at the national level, Devin stated, “This has been a great experience and a lot of fun. This is something I will never forget about my high school career.”
